They are located in the highest areas of Kostrena, where two peaks are dominant: Solin and Sopalj, conquered and transformed into fortified settlements during the prehistoric era. Even though the village of Solin was founded during the Neolithic, it reached its highest point during the Copper Age (5000 – 4000 BC); its town walls were renovated during the Bronze Age and in the Middle Ages. Sopalj, however, was founded during the Bronze Age, as a surveillance point for the gulf and the city of Bakar, mainly in the period of the Liburnian dominance in our region. Between these two villages (Solin and Sopalj), there are some traces of smaller observation points – Glavica, Kula and Humčina, which offer a magnificant view of the Kvarner bay.
